Re-marriage Changes

15/02/2014 Ged O'Neil Bell

Individuals currently receiving a spouse beneficiary’s pension may receive a re-marriage declaration from Teachers’ Pensions around the time of their next birthday. This is because Teachers’ Pensions is currently communicating with its members to identify changes in their circumstances.

If you receive this declaration form, it is important that you complete and return the form to Teachers’ Pensions as soon as possible. If you have re-married, are co-habiting or have entered into a civil partnership, you may no longer be eligible for pension benefits. This will be determined following receipt of the re-marriage declaration.

Should you declare no change in status, a witness who is not a relative must sign the declaration form. You can also inform Teachers’ Pensions about a change of address if necessary.

Teachers’ Pensions emphasise the importance that the form reflects current circumstances, as failure to inform them of a change in status could result in overpayment and consequent accrual of debt. If you have difficulties completing the form you can contact Teachers’ Pensions on 0845 6066166.
