Same Sex Marriage Changes

14/02/2014 Ged O'Neil Bell

Same sex marriages will become legal in the UK from the 29th of March 2014. Where an adult beneficiary’s pension becomes payable after such a marriage, it will be based on pensionable service accrued from the 6th of April 1988.

A same sex married couple will therefore benefit from 50% of their deceased partners pension from this date.
